In the Silence

The Lover bids "come away with me."
Into great silence He calls.

Where no word is spoken
No doing to distract.

The heart laid bare
Pierced through with shame and ugliness.

Silence is noisy and painful
As the undoing is done.

Veils torn open.
Wounds touch with fiery mercy.

To yield and not to close.
To trust and feel the Lover's love
In the silence of it all.

Touching Eternity
